11thMarch09

As usual.. got lesson from 9am till 5pm.
but today Mr Chua release us earlier to rest for the upcoming weekend trip to the Three Gorges.

since Ernest has been pestering me that he want to buy a duffer bag.. so to ensure his safety..
i accompany him.
we went to 鲁汉广场.
both of us were been STRONGLY encourage to board on the mini taxi van because in the van there's already three guys who is going to 鲁汉 and thus will bring us directly to our destination for 2 yuan which is the same fare as the public bus.

Half way through, the driver pick up a lady and was charged for 3 yuan, after knowing that the driver only charge both of us of 2 yuan each, she start quarreling with the driver for over 1 yuan.
during the quarrel, idioms were been use during that period.
Ernest bought a Dakine bag for 167 Rmb and head over to the Adventure shop (TraceBoard) there which is so much similar to those in Singapore such as Campers Corner & Adventure21.
On the shop window of TraceBoard there a sticker ' GOR-TEX ' both Ernest and i were quite excited when we saw that sticker so we rush in to check it out.
we comb the shop for international Gor-tex brand we hope to see but.... only china brand..
i bought a water bottle (500ml) for 64 yuan and was given discount because i joined their life time membership, thinking that we may went back to that shop again to buy some adventure stuff.

Time for dinner!!
we took bus 903 back to campus to meet up with the usual.
during the ride back to campus, we got to be alert for pickpocket as our valuables might get stolen without knowing.
body contact was quite inevitable because of the crowd, i feel like a real sardine in the can as it is really pack worst then taking the MRT or walking along Orchard in Singapore.
the lucky thing is that, due to my height, i'm able to breath some fresh air in the crowded bus.

As for dinner we went to the nearby restaurant, NanYang Fishball Restaurant, for a fabulous meal.
the main course, fishball steamboat, was the best.
the fish ball was made totally out of real fish with only starch to make the meat together.
it was quite soft compared to those fishball we ate normally in Singapore.
we also ordered some dishes too, rice bowl were been refilled 3-4 times.
had fulfill dinner and the bill was cheap - 100 Rmb
the owner gave us a 9 Rmb discount so that we have good impression of the restaurant, and will go back to eat again.

our clean 1 yuan utensils
Each set cost 1yuan

side dishes..
after 10Min's...9 of us.
2 fish balls steamboat (Total 80 fish balls)
Rice refilled : 3-4 times
Pure fish balls steamboat
the remains..
after dinner, we went over to the mini night market for some 'dessert'
which is next to the restaurant.
a makeshift rubbish bin.
eating the barbeque mutton
3stick - 2 yuan
hot & spicy.

Reflection:
Observed that even when quarreling with others, idioms were being use during the conversations which cant be seen in Singapore.
So to promote better chinese education or bring our Mother Tongue up to a higher level , we should try to use idioms in conversation even when quarreling with one another.

Its rare to see some dishes which are not spicy and hot, which i think that spicy and hot spices are to heat up the body tempreture in this cold climate.

10thMarch09

8am that the time i need to wake up..
Ernest woke me up with all noises he made... again..
the ring tone of my alarm clock is far way nicer the din he made..
drag myself off the bed.. wash myself up and off for breakfast!!

As usual, we went to canteen1, we ordered buns and some ' dim sum ' for breakfast,
the usual peeps bought hot soya milk which is real pipping HOT !!
both Ernest and i ordered hot tea instead.

Module : APPG
another fun day programming, though it quite confusing but it's quite easy to get the hang of it.
the class room desktop.
all in Chinese.
along the roadside of the campus
have many of this type of rubbish bin that have two sides of waste entrance
one is for recyclable waste
another is for non-recycle waste
although this is the only place i saw these kind of bin
but at lest this university try to save the environment.
yong xin's lappy
her keyboard is full of COW-related stickers...
i got problem using her lappy
wonder how she type..

at night do some APPG assignment and then off to bed!!

woke up early for class at 8.00am...
still very sleepy..
Monday Blues.
had a brief introduction on China-Hubei-Wuhan.
tried not to fall asleep in class because the lecturer was from this local university - WUST
need to build up the image of Ngee Ann poly to them, give them a good impression on us, so when next group of student come Wuhan University of Science and Technology they will also be able to have the privilege of what we are having now or even better.

Learned about Hubei history and culture as well as Wuhan.
if you are interested in Hubei or Wuhan, i think i can give you the presentation slides.

then for the afternoon class we had APPG.

after that we went for dinner at the usual canteen2 and explored the Staff Clubhouse which mainly for the lecturer there to use and we have the privilege to use it too.
the club house there have.. gym, billiard room; table tennis room, indoor basketball & tennis court, dance hall and a karaoke hall.

8thMarch09

Lazy sunday~
woke up at 10.30am, wash up and went to play basketball with the usuals.
the actual time to meet was 11.00am..
but when i went down to their apartment..
the door was lock, so i assume that they had already proceed to the nearest basketball court ( canteen2 )
i went over there, but not a single soul was there.........
so i thought that they might have gone to another basketball court, together with Ernest, we move on in search for them.
canteen1 basketball court : no people
next we went to the furthest basketball court, hopping they were there but in the end...
they were not.
we left with no other choice and head back to canteen2 basketball court.
finally, we found them.

had a great work out, and proceed to canteen2 for lunch.

Evening : HuQuan night market

bought the ' portable ' food from those road stalls.
it was nice.
sure it is.

after some window shopping, we decided to had our dinner at KFC near the school.
Meal include: 11 pieces of chicken - 5 crispy spicy wings
6 normal breast meat
2 bread
1 sweet corn
1 bottle of 1.25l of Pesi
cost: 64 Rmb

result: 3 happy smile and many more.

after dinner, went over to the supermarket beside the KFC
at 10pm, got breifing...
breifing ended.
time to turn in.

Class Next Day : 8.00am.

Reflection:
The night market reminds me of the singapore Bugis street or a more busy ' Pasa Malam ' ( night market in singapore ).
As usual that the surrounding was not really tidy up, we did learn some stuff from the locals - ' public toilet '.
Things are familar but at the same time theres slight difference too.
Such as the KFC chicken common in Singapore, taste abit of China though.

Breifing was casual, information were given and taken.
Lastly, where ever you are, do take care of your own belongings. Pickpokets are everywhere.
Reminder from Mr.Chua.

Reflection:
The people here got shorter legs... scenery were quite nice.

Food in Snacks Streets were quite tasty other then the smell of the stinky beancurd... aww..
Saw a uncommon and uncivilise image at near end of the street.
A boy was doing his bowel in the public, with the parent around, the parent didnt do anything to stop him but instead ask him to move to a more shady area to continue his business!!
Next, the street sweeper saw it, she just went over there and sweep it up throw it to the nearest bin.
Theres no much emotion/reaction on her face, so i conclude that this kind of ' happening ' is very common.

The trip at the museum was quite an eye opening, saw quite a lot of impressive bronze and gold metalwork, the handcraft of that time was really professional, not forgetting the coffin of Zhen Hou Yi and learned about the culture of Wuhan.
